It's always about eating these days. Wherever you read, it's always about how good a meal tastes, or how expensive it was. Not that there's anything wrong with eating. But, once in a while, it's always good to be on the other side of the table. Or, shall I say, kitchen table? :)
This is where a disclaimer should come in, so that none of you will expect any form of cooking at par with the standards of the fancy cooking shows on TV( although MasterChef Malaysia is an exception- I really have mixed feelings about it) . It was just my group's turn to cook something this week under the Culinary Arts Club in KYUEM.
You see, my group consist of 5 guys and a girl. So, it was pretty difficult to decide what to cook, and we ended up baking cupcakes. So, obviously, the girl won. haha. But it was all for pure fun, so we followed through with the idea.
The really small spot the CAC has behind the cafe is highly under equipped. They do not even have a fan to start off with, let alone any functioning source of light. We started the baking process about 5.30, so by the time we were actually done with everything, we had several iPhones helping to shed some light.

They sort of lack any form of measuring instruments also, so everyone had their brains worked up to figure out whether 650g of self raising flour has been poured into the mixture. Don't worry, our baking intuitions weren't exactly far off!
The days leading up to Thursday saw heavy downpours every evening, but it had to be an extremely sunny evening on the day itself, and when combined with the lack of ventilation, the room became the perfect sauna. We had to make sure nothing else gets into the batter except for the ingredients, if you get what I mean! :D

Talking to Ayunie. You can sense how hot it was by the amount of sweat I was producing.
It was a basic vanilla cupcake with chocolate frosting, so the ingredients weren't really difficult to meddle with, but we had a slight problem before we could even start with anything:

The mixer wasn't working. It was the most crucial equipment , and that itself took us a good 15 minutes to figure out how to assemble the parts. But, Nik came to the rescue and solved it, so he basically lead to the success of that evening. After getting the batter done, the only thing left to do was to bake the cupcakes, which partly was a bore, since the oven is small, and only 12 could go in at one go. We made 3 batches, so you do the maths.
We also had visitors checking up on us. First it was our CAC teacher, Dr. Bano, then we had our co-president, Lisa(if I'm not mistaken) just hanging out for awhile.

By 6.30 or so, when it was already getting dark outside, all 36 cupcakes were laid in front of us, ready to be frosted, which came the interesting part.

Instead of the only girl in the group doing most of the icing work, us 5 guys were being the more creative one that day and she just snapped pictures. I'm not stereotyping, but you really don't see this very often nowadays, so it's a good change :D
We had stars, and moons, and silver beads to use from, so we were all happy to put our imaginations to use. It was only for one day, so what the heck.
Although the entire process was so painstaking, but the product in the end was enough to compensate for the hours we spent on it. Although my group will have to reconsider what to cook/bake the next time our turn comes up.
