Double Take

Hey June :)

Spent my whole day in pavilion on Saturday.(Yes, last Saturday, and now its Friday, and its June, and I'm a little behind in posting). My eldest sister came back after a few weeks in Melaka, so, I thought it would be fun to bring her out around KL since she's back for the weekend, but the underlying reason being the need to go shopping really, and she was just an excuse.haha. We ended up going with the mother tagging along too.

Had lunch in Madam Kwan's, whilst being amazed at the real Madam Kwan in her absolute presence.Basically the trip was planned just to get myself something new to wear to a dinner party on Sunday, which I attended with my whole family sans my 2nd sister of course, who is in Australia. So, we walked around, and after countless shops I had to pull my sister out from, we finally got to the main objective of the trip. haha.

Whilst my sis shopped at Nichii with mum and I towing behind, Mum pointed out this lady who was in the shop with her two daughters. What would be a normal sightsee turned out to be utter ridiculous, and you would agree with me if you saw what the lady WORE. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about individuality, but she didn't just step beyond the line of trashy, she practically ran through it. An extra large work shirt, and...

well, nothing else. besides undergarments. I wasn't staring OK, it was almost sheer, I got a mini heart attack at a glance. The daughters dress better than she does. Religion aside(She's Malay btw), I don't think it is ever appropriate to wear something like that out in the public. What an example. And of course, i tweeted, flabbergasted, and the replies were mutual.

I allowed myself to get that scarring image out of my head after a while, and went back to shopping. But I have to tell all you readers about a particular incident that happened which was so profound, moving, and shocking at once, which occurred in the Pavilion's prayer room situated on the 5th floor. Mum, sis, and I got there, and when I was in the male prayer room, this guy was on the way out after finishing his prayers. He looked particularly weak for his age, but I sort of went "hmm, maybe he's just tired". He was holding on to the glass panels on both sides, using it as a support to stabilize his legs, but he just couldn't stand up properly.

Since the glass panels didn't stretch across the whole room, I held on to his extended hand, hoping he could get more support. but then it happened. Instead of standing upright, the guy, which I give was in his mid or late 20s crashed onto the ground, and I was still holding his hand. He started shaking, trembling, and honestly the first thing that ran through my head was, and this is without any over exaggeration, that he was going to die. really. But my thumb could directly feel the beating pulse in his veins, so maybe this was something else. The thing is, I've never had to deal with this kind of situation before, let alone fix it. There was practically no one around except for a Dato', i presume, and security officers were far away. The only thing close enough to reach withing minutes is my sister in the prayer room next door(which, come on now, has some sense to it, since she is studying to become a doctor!). But then, as he lied on the floor, he told me me to bring him up to a seating position and together with the other man in the room, we got him back into the prayer room. And he just sat there.

I did my prayers, but at the back of my head, i kept thinking how he's doing, why did he get to such a condition, what is going to happen, and especially, what have I done to help. As soon as I finished, I turned around, just to see that he wasn't there. Went out, met my dad, and told him about it. He said that the guy was walking right beside him, looking frail, but nonetheless, on his own. I never will know what the outcome was. I just hope he's fine and feeling better. And as I continued my day-happily in fact, because we did a ton of things after:-
  • forced Got my dad to buy a suit for the dinner
  • Made him buy a new pair of shoe, thus reducing the events of me cringing at the sight of him wearing my shoe :p
  • Went to Victoria Station for dinner and had lovely food
I couldn't stop thinking of the guy, and I took in stride that it happened for a reason, maybe to teach me that I should be thankful for each passing minute and for the health I've been given, and for the ability to stand on my own two feet without support. Alhamdulillah.
