My wish for 2010 :
a decade

This is the last bit.Oh, btw, I really do like our batch you know?We sort of started primary school in the year 2000 and we are ending it a decade later.Sounds perfect.

I'm probably contradicting every single thing I wrote in yesterday's blog post, but I thought, what the heck, right? There's nothing to prove by me writing it down here, but that said, there's nothing to lose I suppose.

So, here it goes, the ever-so-anticipated list I've done. For 2010,I hope and wish to God,that..

  • I do not quit.In faith.In attempts.In solutions.
I would love to know that next year, giving up is not an option. But,by that,I do not wish to hold on to everything.I can't hold on to everything and still have everything. So,I let it go.

  • I'll be good in whatever I do.
As simple as that.Whatever it may be; 10 A-/A/A+ for SPM,Tennis,Debate etc.etc.

  • I feel and be healthy.
Sure, it seems easy, but doesn't necessarily when there's that Hypochondriac self in me.And,probably under this sub topic, I vow to have a perfect sleeping schedule, and a healthy Breakfast.

  • I am ready. To make and face multiple decisions that I will make next year.
Chances are, There'll be a fair share of bad decision making,But i'll learn to not regret, but make full use of the opportunity to become better by it.

-So,there you go.4 very simple, meaningful, and all in all, covers almost every phase of my day-to-day life.I find it easier when it's this general, and not too specific, fairly achievable.

And,lastly, I, Aiman Farhan Bin Johari How wish everyone a,

HAPPY 2010!

30 Dec 2009

yet to end,roaring to begin

Anybody knows the exact way to go to Ampang Lookout Point?because I thought I would want to spend my New Year's eve there with friends and family. What would be a great end to 2009 is pictured in my brain as a gathering of our closest friends watching spectacular fireworks lighting up the sky.Darn you, economic recession.

I don't know why,and though everything is running the way it should be,I feel like something's missing tis the end of 2009.But,the thing is, I don't know what is.I seem to lack the burning fire of school spirit(causing late starts on school stuff). What I has wished I did during the school holiday didn't turn out as expected, but having said all that, I have been partially productive these last few days.

Filled my afternoon watching KNOWING,starring Nicholas Cage.He was alright I suppose, but the movie was creepily crappy.I don't know where they get the idea nor the relatively boring plot. The best part was probably the idea of the time capsule, which sparked a whole lot of thinking about end of next year.

Sat down one evening, and whilst looking at the hills through my windows, I started jolting down my resolutions for next year. This may sound cliche or a tad bias coming from me, but writing those down was very liberating since I actually put alot of thought to it.And,I found out, writing about it here doesn't seem to help in anyways. So, this year, I'm keeping it to myself. If it does work out well,I'll reveal it by the end of next year, which is more like next week *GASPS*

Just a random thought, I haven't heard from Ghavinassh for a really long time now. Wonder what he's been up to.I think I might give him a call.Heck, he'll probably screw me up for not telling him about the distribution of SPBT books.Oh, and one more thing, I am happy to say I'll manage myself with this blog layout for another year.It still doesn't look too shabby, and, well,I'm just lazy to put myself through all that hassle again(and it's so a disadvantage not having photoshop skills like Dee?Karin?)

Now, I shall sleep.

24 hours left of 2009.
make it worthwhile.

M-O-V-I-E-S

Tis' the holiday season,it's time for love, forgiveness, and a whole lot of pirated DVD's :)

Seriously, after buying 7 CD's,I've pretty much stocked my holiday with feel good movies which, doesn't require much thinking. So, I've completed Love Happens and The Blind Side, and I've got to say, even though i know I'm a little bias, but I like movies where good people help other good people.Don't deny it, you too are not immune to this genre.Seriously, I doubt there's a person out there who lives and ONLY lives for CGI/Animations.

Love Happens

Typical characterisation.Typical storyline. But what would have been a normal everyday movie turned out to be pretty meaningful, earthing the true message of the story which is to "let go".Bryan, played by Aaron Eckhart, lost his wife 3 years ago,and he hasn't come to terms with the death. So, gradually, we see how the whole story unfolds around that major term. And,well, there's always something about Jennifer Aniston which makes every movie she's in feel light-hearted.

The Blind Side

Sure, it does look like another football/sports movie.Sure,it does reek "good help poor to suceed".But, it's so far from what the trailer previewed. It's really good.No CGI,No animation, just a good word-of mouth propelled this movie to Stardom for good reasons.First of all, you won't be able to deny the superb acting from Sandra Bullock as the feisty, preppy Southern Mum.The way she multi tasked her days by including reading storybooks and coaching the football team is really great.Want to know the plot?Just find out about the true real-life story of Michael Oher, previously homeless, now a successful football player for the Ravens.

"Leigh Anne Touhy: Michael, I want you to have a good time but if you get a girl pregnant out of wedlock, I will crawl into the car, drive up to Oxford and cut off your penis.
S.J. Tuohy: She's not kidding. "

It is a genuinely heartwarming tale of an abandoned teenager adopted by a wealthy family and guided to success.oh,and it's true?what's not to like. And, even if now you can't still believe me, trust the Golden Globes and SAG awards nods they have gotten.

Synopsis:
A paraplegic marine dispatched to the moon Pandora on a unique mission becomes torn between following his orders and protecting the world he feels is his home

Where do I even begin with this story?I entered the cinema expecting very little from a movie jam-packed with CGI/Animation.and I wasn't too keen seeing that the movie spans out for a total of 3 hours. The last time i sat that long was watching The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which was nice, but terrifyingly long. But, I ended up leaving the cinema hall gasping from the epic tale that I just witnessed for 3 hours and never once complained.Much contrary to that actually.

during the 90s,James Cameron, who is one hell of a director, gave us the mega successful Titanic, which is still loved until today, and I can dare to say that Avatar has been the most anticipated movie of the decade. No details were left unseen, each were intricately done.No wonder the movie took so long to do,and as all James Cameron's mega-movies,cost millions to make. The CGI were pitch perfect, and you might think that it gets a little fake at times, seeing 3/4 of the movie is set at the imaginary Pandora, but you would come to see how life-like it looks.

At first,I didn't know where the story was going. But when they started learning about the true intentions of the humans being there,I was so a Navi' in the cinema hall, practically shouting hoping that every human being(excluding the good-hearted ones) gets killed for ruining such a sacred place.I sort of placed my shoes in the Navi's and felt how devastating it must be to lose their homes to bastards who were just in for the expensive metal deep in the core.

Must watch movie of 2010!

Oh, and I don't know why, but every time I see Harry Potter's franchise beat Twilight's in any statistic just gives me happiness. It looks like all the Twihards couldn't manage to even reach HP status.tsk tsk.

How was your 2009?

Just as we're creeping closer to another checkpoint,I kept thinking about the ups and downs 2009 had to offer to me,to us.We began 2009 hoping for everyday to be the biggest day of our lives, but the truth still sticks, that we never know the biggest day before living it.January started,

and we gathered to thank Mrs. Ng for her maths classes, and I started my obsession with books. It has not stopped since.

Became a part of the Persada team(which I jumped up and down after getting the news) and for the first time, I went to the School Sports Day.16th Birthday was also celebrated with a close knit of friends and a really funny video.

Throughout, we students of 4 Efektif kept losing and replacing teachers.Cikgu Syazana,we still miss you lots!Oh, btw, Malaysia was the best for participating in Earth Hour.

(left: Us at the Prize Giving day for PMR students of 2008)
(right: me with two Archie-obsessed fans at his concert)

I had so many outings this year,I've lost count. And all of them have been really fun.Speaking of, isn't OBAIBI a really weird name for a shop?hmm.and yes, I joined the debate team, which was horrendously nervous and ridiculously fun.

Many cousins got married,so,as always, we( as in the other cousins) pitched in to help. And,finally, after a very long time, sis decided to teach me how to bake.

By July, school activities were storming in.Almost completely forgotten about Mighty Minds!Wow, that was an experience worthwhile of the time and energy spent.Moving on to the picture on the right, thatt's Jer Rick, the one with the hippopotamus around his neck.sat with him throughout this whole year. Thanks for being such a sport, man! and probably having to go through all my bossiness every single schooling day.haha.

We were on our way to some journalist course,or something like that.

We took such a long time to plan the Pengawas party. And coincidentally,H1N1(swine flu) became a problem in Malaysia.Look at my smiling face.hah.I actually fell really sick, with the whole fever package.started having difficulty breathing. In the end, I ended up being admitted in the hospital for a full week, diagnosed with Viral Bronchitis. Most Interesting part of the year,I must say.

Then, there were a few social events I joined.Met the infamous blogger,Kenny Sia,who has actually graced his presence upon this blog(making such a big fuss about this -___-) during the Bloggers Karnival. And, I celebrated Merdeka this year by vandalising a train.

went for a camping trip organized by the prefects' comittee.oh, don't get me started on that.I'm not saying it was really horrible. In fact,I enjoyed parts of it.But some parts were really illogical.During Raya, had a different open house this year, with the tents and all.

I've made a full commitment with Starbucks lately.Been hanging there often. There's just this relaxing feeling about it.Oh, and I went solo on baking a cheesecake that day which was really cool.

If anyone would come up and ask me,"How 2009 has been?" I would never know what to say.One thing I'm sure, it's been a busy year, yes it has been. There were a few regrets, disappointments, and anger spaced out through the entire year, but counting on the events that has happened everywhere else, I say we're lucky.Lucky to live to see the difference every day in 2009 made.

So, do comment and tell me,How was 2009 for you?

All I want For Christmas

I have been out practically the whole day,and I don't even feel like blogging right now.

But for this reason,I have to.A measly one would do the trick.
In the morning, helped out in school with the distribution of the Persada magazine. As hot as it was,I could say I was a little glad to be at school.I'm starting to miss it.Not alot, just barely enough to want to go back there.PMR results were out today,so we took the opportunity to give the magazines to the form 3-ers.Went back even before the results came out, but from what I heard, our year was better :) but nevertheless,Congratulations to those who succeeded and to those who didn't, well, there's always SPM?

Watched AVATAR with some others at Pavilion.I would re-blog about this afterward, but I just have to say, it was EPIC!Even the neck pain and eyestrain caused from the fact that we were seating two rows from the front didn't deter the whole truth and nothing but the truth; it's a really good movie.

M e r r y C h r i s t m a s,

Everybody! :D

You know, I did write to Santa this year, and my present came too early!haha.

That day, the postman sent the new AstroGuide. So, I went down, and saw my present.

GLEE IS IN MALAYSIA!

I AM SUCH A GLEEK.

Since I'm talking about this, the vid below was from their sectionals competition.Haven't seen the whole episode yet,but they won!(Such a spoiler for me) o.0

I think I would like Broadway.

The North we conquer

Penang is very special in its own way.

It would just be another island surrounded with dirty, murky water and so-so beaches. But it's not.The sunset views, the food-especially the food-and the people there are very interesting and different to say the least.

Left for Penang on early Friday morning.Since it was Awal Muharram, the road was jam packed with cars all heading north, mainly to balik kampung i suppose.A what should have been 4 hours trip took 7 hours to finally reach Penang, that is including all the breaks at the R&R and lunch. Our trip there wasn't to go sightseeing(we never do,actually) or to visit anybody. It's purely a trip to eat, eat,and eat.

After reaching the hotel, we made our way to Gurney Drive, had bowls of Laksa and Ma Zhi.Btw, Kak farah, I did remember about your absence, all whilst eating the scrumpdelicious Ma Zhi that you like :) Arrived back at the hotel, bathed, and watched Glee on the laptop since there was no broadband.

I'm a GLEEK :D

2nd day started with a lousy breakfast at the hotel, and we ended up leaving earlier than we thought to eat Nasi Kandar. Then, the usual Cucur Udang stall which I recommend as a must try. It's pretty easy to spot since it's through an alley right opposite Mydin near the Cititel Hotel.Right after that, the Cendol stall was our next stop. There's no competition, since all of them are really SO good.Gosh,I'm drooling.

I cut my hair!

And usually, Year end holidays will result in a very huge sale at the Body Glove shop in front of Cititel. So, i took the opportunity to buy myself a pair of jeans and t-shirt.Yay!By this time, the camera has ran out of battery already, so I apologise for the lack of pictures(having said all this,my camera is fixed already!)At night, we went to Batu Feringghi to eat dinner there and to buy some pirated DVD's.hah.I can't help thinking it's so much cheaper and the quality is pitch perfect.6 Cd's in total which include The Blind Side(WHICH is not even out in M'sia yet) and KNOWING.together, we added the Grey's Anatomy season 5 to our collection.

Oh, and did I mention we tend to buy Jeruk everytime we go to Penang?

OTW back, we stopped by Perak to eat and pack 2 kg of their infamous Laksa and Apam.makan lagi! There was a granduncle who I didn't even know existed, and we visited him before going to my late uncle's house in Kuala Kangsar. There, my cousin who coincidentally just came back from Terengganu brought Keropok Lekor, which my aunt then cooked and we ate,AGAIN! At that moment, I felt much like a hippopotamus. When night came, we left for home.

OH, and I actually talked in my sleep.and I actually remembered what I said.hmmph.

*This morning, I woke up early and enjoyed a gruelling 2 1/2 hours of Tennis.Just to detox myself from all the food! :D and I actually bumped into Eunice, an old tennis mate, who's an ex-SMKTM student.what a nice day today has been!

17 Dec 2009

No,I actually have holiday activities

oh, hi :D

The reason for my lack of holiday post can all be summed up to the places I've been to,tuition I've been attending, activities I've been filling up my day with. So, just to keep it running, I'll post everything I need to say here.

Today, as exciting(lying) and fun(partially lying) it was ,the day was really tiring.my legs took the beating.

Early in the morning, got up to find my cat sleeping on the floor. So, as cute as he is, I decided that disturbing him is the last thing I would do.Just look at that ; a sinister cat hidden by all that fur and angelic-ness. :)

Bathed relatively early, since tuition starts at 11.30.Waited,and waited for dad to arrive to pick me up ad send me to the LRT station.Eventually, I sprinted my way from the station to Kasturi and ended up being 10 minutes late or so.But, come to think of it, I don't exactly mind since the classroom was BLOODY cold,it should have just made us all in the Christmas-y mood and SNOW!my hand pretty much resembled those of a mat salleh and thank god the sweaters became my companion. We even joked about bringing blankets the next time we come to Kasturi.

Bio class today was also very hilarious,to say the least.the theory has it, that the FREEZER we were in slowed down our brain functions, which allowed me and Komal to hallucinate and misheard everything the teacher was trying to point out.Trust me, it became a non-stop laughing spree after we taught the bio teacher asked us to "open our clothes" instead of "open or close?".

BY 2.30, we were on our way to the station, enjoying the scorching sun which slowly brought us back from the undead :) Today, instead of going back to Wangsa Maju,I insisted on buying my much-needed pair of tennis shoe where I haven't been lucky enough to find the perfect fit anywhere near KL.So, i ventured on a trip, alone of course, all the way to Mid Valley.

Walking around Kl Sentral, alone was nice.I got pretty much lost my whole entire time there, going up 2 floors before coming back down, realising the entrance was just right in front of me.Apparently, the big signs weren't BIG enough.

--Take note, do virtually slap and scold me the next time i plan or decide to take the KTM Commuters.I thought LRT during peak hours were crazy, but KTM was jam-packed around the clock. And the lack of bars and handles to hold on to were also really dissatisfying. Not to mention the pushy crowd.By 3.40,there I was in Mid Valley.yay!

Honestly, I would've really wanted to buy a mi-Adidas, but then i thought, do i really need one of those?sure it's nice, and custom made to your own size, but with the cost, and not to mention even thinking of using it to play tennis with. But no doubt, it'll still be a priority someday. So, I went straight o Studio R, and hope to Allah my shoe size was available.and thank god, IT WAS!would have been so devastated and disappointed if it wasn't available knowing that i went through all the hassle of the crowded people and on an empty stomach.

I was pretty confident I bored the salesperson to death. It's always been a dilemma when it comes to sizes, ultimately shoes.
  • should I take UK 9 or 10?
  • which would be more comfortable?
  • in the long run, would I still be able to use it?
  • Which shoe doesn't make you look like a clown?
  • Would I be given the chance to change my size if I decide to later?
  • Would the smaller size give me blisters whilst playing tennis?
  • which felt lighter?heavier?
  • can a finger fit in at the back of the shoe?
  • what is my real feet size?
etc..etc..etc..

I even apologised to the guy who eventually sat, legs crossed on the floor waiting for me to choose between the 2 sizes which I compared for, what? 20 minutes or so?haha.

The shoe I'll be wearing for next year's MSSD! :)

It wasn't so hard to pick, design wise.Nike and Adidas had pretty normal and boring designs, which wasn't worth their price tags.Anyways, I had an Adidas and a Nike tennis shoe before. Now, I can add Reebok to the collection!

On the way home, which was around 5.30 or so, it started raining heavily when I was on the bus.

and,my sis rode the motorcycle to pick me up.I really pitied the stranger i saw who got off his motorcycle, soaked from head to toe :( and home,it was.finally!

____________________________________________________________________________

I can safely say I'm a junkie.

an awards show Junkie.I usually don't get enough of the Oscars,Golden Globes,SAG's,People's chocie awards and so much more. And usually,I get really annoyed when people tend to disturb me when i am "in the moment".Don't believe me?ask Dakshan :)

Yesterday,The Golden Globes Awards Nominees came out,and I'm pretty stoked to see some of my favourite movies are in the running.and they say, once you're in for the Golden Globe Awards, you're in for the OSCARS.But having said that, i still do think the contenders for next year are not as obvious and as great as this year's awards.but, as they say, the show must go on right?

With all of this coming up,there's a pile of movies I'm waiting to catch up on; Nine,The Blind Side,Up In The Air,Precious,Julie and Julia, just to name a few.

After 20 years without a GOLD medal,
MALAYSIAN FOOTBALL TEAM FINALLY WON!
MALAYSIA BOLEH-LAH!

OK, now I'm done. It's just a way to say"I'll miss the Internet" since I'll be on a non-blogging hiatus for 3 days.Penang, here i come!See you people back on Monday!
